This is a Lab kit that for the new Cisco CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure Lab Exam ver 1.1. It includes an EVE-NG Virtual Machine loaded with Viptela SD-WAN Controllers. This Lab can be used with 2 different Lab Topologies: INE (ine. Com) and Narbik Kocharians (micronicstraining. Com). It is is built using a Dell R620 Server w/ 256GB RAM (up to 768GB) + 1TB SSD with VMware ESXi 6.7 The Dell R620 is a Powerful Server with 2 x Ten-Core Processors (Xeon E5-2660v2). Ten-Core Processors have 20 vCPU’s. Therefore, this Server has a total of 40 vCPU’s Physical Server’s Main Features : – 2 x Ten-Core Processors (Xeon E5-2660v2 ==> 40 vCPU’s) – 4 x Gigabit Ethernet Interfaces – 256GB RAM (supports up to 384GB) – 1TB SSD Drive (can be upgraded to 2TB or 4TB) – VMware ESXi 6.5 Enterprise Version (w/ Permanent License) Please also notice that a Monitor is not included. You’ll need a Monitor and a Keyboard to operate this Server. Main VM’s for the CCIE EI Lab : These are the main VM’s for the CCIE EI Lab: – 1 x EVE-NG ver 5.0.1 VM (needed to simulate a Viptela SD-WAN Network) – 1 x CML-2 ver 2.7.0 VM (License not included) – 1 x Windows 2019 Server VM with 180-day Trial version – 1 x Cisco ISE Server ver 3.1 (Identity Services Engine) with 90-Day Demo License – 1 x Ubuntu Server ver 20.04.2 configured with NSO (Network Services Orchestrator) – 4 x IOSv-L2 Virtual Switches built inside EVE-NG – 10 x CAT8000v Virtual Routers ver 17.9 built as independent VM’s CCIE EI v1.1 Equipment Requirements. The new version of the CCIE EI Lab Exam (ver 1.1) includes several changes. The updated List of requirements can be found at this URL. As this URL shows, the new CCIE EI Lab Exam requires the following Virtual Machines. Main Virtual Machines – Cisco CAT8000v (Replaces the old CSR Routers) with IOS XE ver 17.9 – Cisco IOSv-L3 Routers w/ IOS Software ver 15.8 – Cisco IOSv-L2 Switches w/ IOS Software ver 15.2 – Cisco DNA Center Release 2.3. X – Cisco SD-WAN (vManage, vBond, vSmart, vEdge) Software ver 20.9 Supporting Virtual Machines – Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) – Ubuntu Server ver 18.04.5 – Windows Server Our Lab includes all of the Virtual Machines mentioned above, but a DNA Center (DNAC). DNAC is not included because the Hardware Requirements to implement it as a VM are much higher! That is, a DNAC simply won’t run on a Dell R620. We would need an R630 as minimum to deploy a DNAC. However, we do offer a DNAC as an upgrade option. As mentioned before, this Lab can be used with 2 different Lab Topologies. INE (ine. Com) and. Narbik Kocharians (micronicstraining. Com). But they can be converted to Controller-Mode , which allows management through the vManage Controller. This Topology also requires 4 x LAN Switches, which can be either Virtual or Physical. We implement INE’s Topology in 2 different ways. Virtual Routers as Independent VM’s (CAT8000v Routers). Virtual Routers inside EVE-NG (IOSvL3 Routers). Virtual LAN Switches are implemented using the IOSv-L2 Software inside the EVE-NG VM. However, please notice that Cisco recommends using Physical Switches because the IOSv-L2 Software doesn’t provide some of the advanced functions needed for the Lab. IOSv-L2 Switches are good enough to provide basic connectivity and some basic L2/L3 functions. And this should be enough to do most Lab Exercises. But if you want to do more complex Lab Exercises that deal with more advanced Switching functions, then you may want consider getting 4 x Physical Switches Physical Switches can be connected to the Server at any time and they can be easily combined with Virtual Routers. Narkik’s Topology uses up to 20 x Virtual Routers , but the number of Routers (and Switches) varies for each Lab Exercise. All Narbik’s Lab Exercises are available as independent. UNL file s that can be loaded on EVE-NG. There is a large set of Lab Exercises available (with Solutions) and you can download the complete list from this URL. The EVE-NG Virtual Machine (VM) is perhaps the most important component of this Lab. EVE-NG Community Edition is a Network Simulator that doesn’t need a License ; that is, it’s a Free Product! As mentioned before, our EVE-NG VM can be used for either INE or Narbik Lab Exercises. Our EVE-NG VM provides full SD-WAN functionality! That is, it includes all the Network Nodes needed to implement a Viptela SD-WAN Network version 20.9.3 (as required by the new CCIE EI Lab Exam ver 1.1). This includes SD-WAN Controllers, also known as Control Plane Components, and WAN Edge Nodes : – vBond – vSmart – vManage WAN Edge Nodes, also known as the Data or Forwarding Plane Devices, can be implemented in 2 ways : – vEdge Cloud Routers – CSR1000v Cloud Routers (SD-WAN version). In our EVE-NG VM you’ll find a Fully Configured and ready to use Sample SD-WAN Network This is done just to demonstrate the full SD-WAN functionality of our EVE-NG VM. We provide all the Configuration Files that you can use to build your own SD-WAN Network. Our EVE-NG VM also includes the following Virtual Devices. CAT8000v Routers (version 17.9.3a) – CAT9000v Switches (version 17.10.1) So you can use these Virtual Devices either as independent VM’s or inside EVE-NG. Combining Virtual Routers with Virtual or Physical Switches. As mentioned before, the EVE-NG VM is also used to implement 4 x IOSv-L2 Switches But in addition to these Switches, the EVE-NG VM also includes a set of 10 x IOSv Routers That is, this Lab includes 2 sets of Virtual Routers : – 10 x CAT8000v Routers (built as Independent VM’s) – 10 x IOSv-L3 Routers (built inside the EVE-NG VM) So you could use either set of Virtual Routers, both of which can be connected to the set of Virtual Switches And if you add Physical Switches to the Lab, the Routers could be connected to either set of Switches (Virtual or Physical). So you’ll have 4 potential combinations : – CAT8000v Routers (CAT8Kv) connected to Virtual Switches – CAT8000v Routers (CAT8Kv) connected to Physical Switches – IOSv-L3 Routers connected to Virtual Switches – IOSv-L3 Routers connected to Physical Switches Of course you may also add extra Virtual Routers (CAT8Kv or IOSv) and extra IOSv Switches! Thus, this item provides a very flexible Lab environment with many configuration options! CML-2 VM : This Lab also includes a CML-2 VM because INE uses CML for many of their Lab Exercises. The VM included in this Lab doesn’t have a License though. However, you could use the EVE-NG VM instead of CML-2 for almost all Lab Exercises! Upgrade Options : As mentioned before, you may add 4 x Physical Switches to this Lab. This will allow you to work on some advanced features not available in the IOSv-L2 Software. There are a few options for the Physical Switches. It is also possible to upgrade some of the Server’s main features, such as RAM and Drive. A RAM upgrade may be needed to simulate large SD-WAN Networks, which are RAM hungry! The Server’s Drive capacity is 1TB, but it can be upgraded to 2TB or 4TB SSD. And as mentioned before, we also offer the possibility of adding a DNA Center! However, this would require a different Hardware (R630 instead of R620) provided either as a separate Server or a single Server with all VM’s in it. If you experience any problems, we’ll replace it! Please take this into account. Thank you for looking!
